Jeffrey Steele

Jeff was taught to play the tuba by his Dad, who is still playing in small groups in Florida in his 90s. Jeff grew up in Ohio playing the tuba with the Warren Junior Military Band and studying with Paul Krzywicki and John Turk. He played in concert and marching bands at Northwestern University under John Paynter. During his career as a U.S. Navy Engineering Duty Officer and civilian engineer, Jeff played in bands including the National Concert Band, the City of Fairfax Band, and since its second season, the Virginia Grand Military Band. In addition to VGMB, Jeff plays in Mallets, Hammers, and Brass, a xylophone-piano-tuba trio with VGMB percussionist George Huttlin and VGMB fan Judy Gardner.
